Joe Hodges, NYC Fireman

Last Mon­day, I had the plea­sure of attend­ing Joe McNally’s Sum­mer One-Day Light­ing work­shop in Dobbs Ferry, NY.   

It was there that I met Joe Hodges, a NYC Fire­fighter.  Mr. Hodges is a good friend of Joe McNally’s and has been a sub­ject of many of his projects.  Great guy, fan­tas­tic model…a nat­ural.  I really enjoyed the whole expe­ri­ence and learned a lot.  I look for­ward to using some of the knowl­edge of light­ing that Joe imparted on us dur­ing this intense one-day workshop.  

The best part was watch­ing Joe at work.  He blows my mind with his knowl­edge and quick think­ing.  At one point, he man­aged to wrap one of the mod­els in a 3″ thick rope from head to toe for some fan­tas­tic shots.  Unfor­tu­nately, we weren’t allowed to shoot that ses­sion for licens­ing rea­sons, but hope­fully, Joe will post it on his web­site soon.
